Entrance Exams

What Are 7+, 11+ & 13+ Entrance Exams?
In the UK, entrance exams for independent schools and some state grammar schools are commonly referred to by the ages at which the students take them: 7+, 11+, and 13+.
My approach
During a consultation, I will discuss what school(s) your child is applying to and based on that will advise you on which components to practice. Most entrance exams will contain an English and maths component and some will include non-verbal and verbal reasoning as well as science. From here I will plan to do lots of past paper practice questions with your child to get them the best chances of getting into their choice of schools!
Primary Subjects

What do pupils learn in primary school?
UK primary level education, typically covering ages 5 to 11 (Key Stages 1 and 2), encompasses foundational subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.
In English, students focus on developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, with an emphasis on phonics, grammar, and vocabulary.
Maths education covers basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as concepts like fractions, measurements, and geometry.
These subjects aim to build a strong academic foundation and foster a love of learning.
my approach
During a consultation, I will discuss your child’s areas of improvement. A recent school report will be useful to help me get a good understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
I will always look to use diagnostic tools in the first session to further see where these gaps lie. Using this information, I will decide the best way to help your child improve and share this with you.
Secondary Subjects

What do students learn in maths and science at secondary school
Secondary level typically covers ages 11 to 16 (Key Stages 3 and 4).
At this level, students delve deeper into maths and science.
Maths education becomes more advanced, encompassing algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and probability, with an emphasis on problem-solving and logical reasoning.
In Science, students explore biology, chemistry, and physics in greater detail, conducting experiments and learning about complex topics such as genetics, chemical reactions, and forces.
This stage aims to provide a comprehensive and rigorous education, preparing students for GCSE exams and future academic or vocational pursuits.
my approach
During our consultation I will determine a plan to make sure we cover everything your child may need support improving on. A recent school report will be very handy in informing this plan. I will then let you know how I plan to do this over the course of the tuition your child undertakes with me.
For all three subjects, all exam boards are covered including international GCSEs
A-Level Subjects

What do students learn in biology and chemistry A-levels
A-Level Chemistry and A-Level Biology are advanced courses for students aged 16-18, offering an in-depth study of each subject:
Chemistry: Focuses on organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, with a mix of theory and lab work.
Biology: Covers cellular biology, genetics, ecology, and human physiology, combining theoretical learning with practical experiments.

I cover all major exam boards, including AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL and WJEC as well as international A-levels.
Home Education

What is home education and EOTAS?
Home Education is when parents take full responsibility for their child’s education at home. The child is usually deregistered from their school.
Home Schooling involves following a structured curriculum similar to traditional schools, but within the home setting. Usually, the child is still registered at a school and the school is responsible for providing suitable materials for them.
EOTAS refers to educational arrangements outside of the standard school system, often catering to children with specific needs or circumstances.
my approach
If a school setting is not suitable for your child, they shouldn’t miss out on education. That is where I come in! I am trained to support with SEND including social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). For children completing EOTAS, I will liaise and work with the local authority to make sure I am providing the right support to you and your child.
Turkish

Learning turkish
Learning Turkish, you’ll master conversational skills, grammar, and pronunciation tailored to your pace and goals. Additionally, you’ll gain a deep understanding of Turkish culture, enhancing your language experience beyond the classroom.
my approach
A consultation will determine your current proficiency in the Turkish language and your reasons for wanting to learn it. This will inform how your sessions are planned for! Prepare for a lot of practice and if you can speak with someone who is already fluent then even better!
